Job Summary

Sarela Technology Solutions, LLC is seeking a GCCS-J Cyber Subject Matter Expert (SME). This position is contingent on award of contract. Contract period of performance will be one (1) base year and four (4) option periods. Contract award is anticipated in September 2022.

This is a hybrid position that will be performed remotely and require travel to Bridgewater VA, Morgantown, WV, and Columbia, MD.

For this position the individual must have a deep understanding of Cyber Security practices and procedures and be able to recommend improvements to the system that are highly beneficial to the War fighter. Duties will include supporting the prime contractor's Chief Engineer in team-wide system engineering activities and directly performing technical activities as assigned for the SarelaTech Team in Leesburg, VA. 

The SME works with testers in the GCCS-J Technical Assistance Center (GTAC) at DISA Headquarters in Ft. Meade to scan the system for vulnerabilities and provide inputs to the GCCS-J Plan of Action and Milestones. The SME will work closely with the software developers to resolve any cyber security vulnerabilities discovered during scanning or test. The SME Cyber Security typically performs the following kinds of functions: 

  • Initiates, supervises, and/or develops requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs

  • Provides strategic and technical guidance to program and project staff

  • Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for mission-related challenges and/or issues

  • Consults with stakeholders to define need or problem;

  • Supervises/leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions to mission needs. 


The Subject Matter Expert is an individual whose qualifications and/or particular expertise are exceptional and/or highly unique. Subject Matter Experts do not have specific experience/education qualifications but are typically identified as recognized industry leaders for a given area of expertise. The Key Subject Matter Expert – Senior has 8+ years of experience in a relevant field to the requirement and shall meet the following:

  • Excellent speaking and writing skills

  • Demonstrates strong work ethic, works well within an engineering team, mission oriented, and takes personal pride in work.

  • Experience with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) required

  • Experience in Scanning with Cyber Security tools and patching software desired

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification desired

  • Familiarity with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) desired

  • Experience in DoD and military software development environment is desired
